Michael Sahaida is a professional photographer with over 26 years of experience in his field. He specializes in commercial still life, portraiture, editorial and book illustrations; his work has been featured in catalogues, magazines, newspapers and books.
His eye for color and composition brings vitality and energy to his photographs. Michael’s passion for people is evident in his portraits of individuals and groups; he captures a real sense of the personality and perspective of his subject in their likeness.
Michael first became interested in photography as a child by joining his father, an amateur photographer, on outings to take pictures. After graduating from Central Washington University with a degree in geology, Michael apprenticed with two talented photographers; first in Seattle, Washington and then in New York City. In 1984 he travelled to Milan to refine his craft, returning to New York in 1986 to open his own studio Currently based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Michael travels throughout the United States on assignment for his clients
Michael’s work has been featured in The New Yorker, Glamour, Self, Bazaar, New York Magazine and House Beautiful; he has photographed musicians, athletes, dancers, artists and actors. In his spare time, Michael creates platinum prints; an exhibit of his work was featured at the Pittsburgh Filmmakers Gallery in 2004.
