Bio

Michael Sahaida is one of the nation's leading commercial still life photographers. Trained in Milan and New York City, he established his own studio in Pittsburgh in 1992. Shooting on locations around the country, he has an active client list that includes Nordstrom, L.L.Bean, Talbot's, Saks 5th Avenue and Neiman Marcus.

A native of Seattle, Michael started in photography as a
young boy, joining his father as an avid hobbyist. In college, he combined an interest in natural science - his degree was in geology with a minor in biology - with his love for photography by taking on photo assignments for geologic mapping.

Following graduation, he assisted in photography studios
in Seattle and New York before moving to Milan to build his own commercial portfolio. Returning to America two years later, Michael launched his own studio in New York and then relocated to Pittsburgh.

In addition to his commercial work, Michael began work two years ago in Platinum printing. Choosing a broad range of subjects, he uses this process to create photographs that manage to combine a deep sense of nostalgia and longing with a subtle and sometimes chilling hint of modernity. He is currently building a body of work for his gallery shows.
